'An Algonquin Maiden' is a romance novel set in the early days of Upper Canada. In the spring, a young man, Edward Macleod, is urgently making his way from England to his family's home in Canada, hoping that his mother's ailment is not as serious as he was told. But as soon as he arrives home and sees her, she breathes her last sending the Macleod family into mourning. Devastating as the loss is however, out of this tragedy and his return home, will grow a romance between Edward and his sister's close friend Helene.
