"Gebir, and Count Julian" by Walter Savage Landor

Walter Savage Landor was an English writer, poet, and activist."Gebir" was written nine years after the outbreak of the French Revolution, and at a time when the victories of Napoleon were in many minds associated with the hopes of man. At the same time, Landor was heavily inspired by Arabian tales to weave a poetic and beautiful tale in verse. Instead, soon after getting married, he began his tragedy of "Count Julian." The patriotic struggle in Spain inspired the story of Roderick, the last of the Gothic kings, against whom, to avenge wrong done to his daughter, Count Julian called the Moors in to invade his country.
