"The Girl From Tim's Place" by Charles Clark Munn opens as Chip McGuire overhears her drunkard father selling her to one of his cronies for a hundred dollars, she makes a wild resolve and runs away into the woods, despite her great fears of the wilderness where she lives. Days later, starving and ragged, she finds some campers near a lake. Though they're willing to protect her, doing so is no easy task for this high-spirited girl.
