"The Land of Nome: A narrative sketch of the rush to our Bering Sea gold-fields, the country, its mines and its people, and the history of a great conspiracy (1900-1901)" by Lanier McKee
The Nome Gold Rush was a gold rush in Nome, Alaska, separated from other gold rushes by the ease with which gold could be obtained. Much of the gold was lying in the beach sand and could be recovered without any need for a claim. The plentiful gold brought many people to the area, which caused much development and upheaval in this otherwise calm part of Alaska.
