"The Marriage Contract" takes place in Bordeaux and revolves around the marriage of Paul de Manerville, a wealthy Parisian gentleman, and Natalie Evangelista, a beautiful but spoiled Spanish heiress. Paul falls in love with Natalie and marries her despite his friend's objections. However, Natalie's mother is more interested in Paul's wealth than in their marriage.
