Coward was an English ornithologist and an amateur astronomer. He wrote extensively on natural history, local history, and Cheshire. In this book, he describes the migration patterns of birds in his home country. However, though he was limited in the birds he wrote about, these ideas and concepts can be applied to birds native to places around the world and helped teach average readers about this particular part of natural science.
