Little simba Tayo has grown up. His carefree childhood in the crater is over and he has become a skilled hunter who has to learn to stand on his own two feet.

An uncertain future lies ahead of him, but he soon meets the young lion Fumu and they have many an adventure together. They decide to set up a new hunting ground together, because many things are easier with two people.

They talk about a large river where numerous prey graze the lush greenery - a lion would be able to live there like in paradise. And so the two young simba dream of their future kingdom. But before they get there, they still have a few tasks ahead of them.
